If the roof is original, it's vinyl - they all are on any model year car.
I use 303 Aerospace Protectant and Colloidal Cleaner (separate product) on mine and am very happy with the results. Others will no doubt be on soon to recommend their favourite products.

Its vinyl mate, I use autoglym vinyl and rubber care, it protects, and the shine is amazing, you can also use it on your seals, which is a bonus too.

Clean with regular car shampoo and a stiff bristled brush and 303 protectant
Btw it's vinyl, I know it doesn't seem like it but it is unless it's been replaced with a non OEM mohair one.

Just for the sake of completeness. I Use Ragg Topp cleaner and Ragg topp protectant.
It is vinyl BTW.
Re the rubber seals - the autoglym will do an ok job but for full protection of all of the rubber seals use Shin Etzu or similar silicone grease. Certainly apply this once a year even if you use autoglym in between times. Rub it well in with your fingers. Wear gloves if you know you are allergic to silicone based products.

I use Holts Silicone & rubber lubricant on all the seals & rubber bits on the car.
