You've hit the nail on the head and that's exactly why I have the standard exhaust

I don't trust the aftermarket suppliers anywhere near as much as I trust Honda and although the stock exhaust will definitely be a compromise between weight, performance, cost and reliability I'm prepared to trust Honda's judgement in this area until I find an aftermarket supplier who can give me the same confidence.
Have you seen a stcok exhaust off the car? It's a cheap nasty looking thing

MY HKS is all stainless steel. It was expensive but worth it IMO.

A little story the owner at TDI was telling me. A guy comes in and wants an HKS manifold and system on his scooby. 1200 quid was the price. The guys says that's too expensive. So he buys a scorpion system for 7oo quid (non jap so crap ). The guy goes back to the supplier 5 times and they wont replace it. He comes back to TDI, they fit the HKS and throw the scorpion system in the bin(literally it was in the skip outside) Buy cheap pay twice as they say

As he said to me the japs wont settle for anything shit on there cars perfomance wise. Try selling a jap a pipercross or peco system
lol that ol dchesnut, just so happens that they sell the jap stuff

Jamie, I had HKS headers on my STi, and although they performed well they were beginning to rust. Still better quality than the OE so again, not really an issue but there's better for the money - including the likes of Hayward and Scott in the UK - very good zorsts!

I did say as "standard" as some of their stuff is SS.

And whilst I am on a roll anyone who pays for a blinged up Titanium one is crazy

Forum bragging rights and dont give me the weight saving argument- taking a dump or filling up with petrol has as much of an effect

I have now and yes I agree with your statement

Still not going to change it until I get that warm fuzzy feeling that the aftermarket supplier isn't just making a shiny exhaust to make lots of noise and minor power gains. For my money I want a properly engineered exhaust

You must HUGE bowels, Foz!

(If I was to buy again, I wouldn't shell out as much as I did on the Amuse. I bought it because it was, at the time, one of a very small number of exhausts guaranteed to fit the 04. I wish I hadn't been quite so hasty to take the word of the Yanks that my old HKS wouldn't fit on the 04 )
