As a marine engineer, I can assure you I have full access to my bank accounts whilst in the middle of the pacific thanks to the wonders of modern satellite communications.

Bloody people!
As a weapons engineer, I can assure you I do not have full access to my bank accounts whilst in the middle of the pacific thanks to the fragility of modern satellite communications, and the hideously poor bandwidth our ships get allocated.
That's what happens when you join the wrong navy!

Not much need for us Weaponeers in the Merchant. I'd rather be fixing a 4.5" Gunnery System or stripping a 30mm Cannon than unblocking a toilet or conducting rounds of a Sewage Treatment Plant

Ah yeh, can't compete with that...but we have plumbers and Filipino's for toilet unblocking duties and shit tank monitoring! I spend most of my time in the engine room monitoring temps and pressures of the main engines, fresh water generators, propulsion, electrical generators and the blasted boilers.

On the plus side though, we have dancing girls a plenty and a satellite system that works! Haha!

You sound more excited by the Filipinos than the dancing girls...oh yeah, you're a civvy sailor. I know what you lot are like, you love a bit of bumming in the engine room...that's why you spend so much time there

Coming from a man in the Royal Navy!! Glass houses and all that

I guess you guys are a bit more discrete and love bumming other men with your 4.5" guns...(did you see what I did there? )

You will come over eventually, all you RN lot do in the end, the money is too tempting...! Then you see how a proper ship is run, like a right shitheap! haha!

This thread has a link to another forum where they actually got the scammers to get tattoos and do other stupid stuff in order to gain the trust of the person being "scammed."

Worth a read, for the lulz.

And.. back to topic

I received a similar email when I sold my boat, but with one significant difference - mine was written well. It was an obvious complete scam all the same.
But you have to laugh at the thought they think it will be accepted that a marine engineer will have no access to any proper bank account. Comedy!
