What Do You Guys Think?
Quick pic of the XM satellite radio interface I installed into my car.
This particular model was the Terk Commander and fits nicely into the Radio Door a la VAFC style.
Actually quite proud of it as I did the install all myself without any prior electronic experience...and if I can do it anyone can!
BTW..do you guys have Satellite Radio over in the UK yet??
If anyone is interested - I have a spare 04 SILVER RADIO DOOR FOR SALE
See my thread in the UK FS FORUM HERE

Satellite radio is basically an alternative to terrestrial radio - much like satellite TV is to regular TV.
You pay a subscription of $9.99 a month and you get over 100 or so channels of music/sports/news/comedy/talk radio etc.
For the most part its all commercial free, and being beamed from satellites, the signal is uninterrupted like it would be if you drove out of range.
Basically, you can tune to your favourite station and drive from the east coast of the US to the west coast and never lose the station.
I dont listen to anything else now!!
I have another satellite system hooked up to my Jeep. It is the Delphi Sky-Fi version. A small handset that sits in a car cradle - when you're done with it in the car, you can take it into your house and mount it in a cradle hooked up to your home theatre system - and continue to listen to the music in your home.

HTH...jeez..i sound like a walking advertisement for them!

Sounds like a good idea for keeping on station if you are travelling large distances (which I guess you would be Stateside), not sure if I would need that feature over here though. I like the idea of no commercials (and no DJ woffle either would be good) but that must be a programming choice. Nice kit.

I just like it because there are no commercials and no innane dj
Over here....the djs are normally in pairs, and will talk for 10-15 mintues straight about crap. There are commercials everywhere - just like on the TV.
Because of that...this little gadget is worth its weight in gold.
I agree though...probably not much use for it in the UK. Just thought Id share.

Nice install
Satellite would be great for me, as up in the highlands (the best bits to drive in scotland) the reception is pretty limited, and even DAB only covers certain areas IIRC which are unliekyl to be in teuchterland .
Once you get north of Perth, the only station you can get reliably for more than 30 miles at a time is Radio 4 LW or the Republic of Ireland official hurling league results (yes really!).
