TEIN - RA's if you're serious. Type Flex for something a little easier on the wallet!

It looks like the Tein RA have a single adjuster which adjusts rebound and commpression non-independently. This is pretty basic. The spring rates will probably be too high, knowing Tein.

However, it is a monotube design.

These guys don't know their arse from their elbow

99-03 coilovers will not fit +04 cars
as PL says those are only two way - height and damping. Unless four way refers to 4 damping positions (most have at least 10!)
A drop of 1.5" on an S is marginal on UK roads. a 3.5" drop is just
Apparently they are the "finest made coilovers available" and also the cheapest. That's a good combination

A google search proved useful!

Seem to be popular on FWD cars and with the Yanks because they are cheap.
Though many are at the same place as me.
You generally get what you paid for!

I installed a set of Teins for someone a few weeks back.

On the softest setting they were *very* soft.

Seemed OK to me and the guy who has them has said that they have transformed the car after he adjusted them.

There are a multitude of Teins though Steven. Just found the spring rates for the RAs - 560lb front and back. Compare that to, for example, the MY04 of approx 240lb front and back. That's a hefty hike.

at 560 why bother!
Save the weight and stick a fixed length of tube in there!

This was the original thread I posted a couple of weeks back....didn't get much interest at the time...

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=484580

Granted, I have nothing else to compare it to, having run HKS springs from the day I bought the car (fitted by previous owner!) but I'm really enjoying the ride now. As Steve says it was very soft at the time of fitting but 5 or 6 clicks to the left have sorted that!

I accept that Nitron most probably rule the roost on this subject, but for a grand all in (inc. VAT and delivery) I'm happy with my choice.

to put this into perspective, I have ~85mm distance from sill jack point to the ground with a 30mm drop. If you were to drop the car by a further 2" then your ground clearance will be.....

how to compare a non adjustable damper/spring of the OEM setup with an adjustable height one? - isn't the spring rate dependent on the final ride height setting?

so when an aftermarket spring is quoted at whatever rate.. what does this mean when it is on the car?
