I think you mean
"top mounted compression adjuster"
I think he means "adjustable top mounts".

The D2's I've seen fitted on a French S are pillow mounts like those on the right. They are similar to the Nitron ones (and I dare say the Bilstien ones). As you can see they are "top mounted compression adjusters"

There is no way the left hand mounts will fit an S, nor would you gain anything by having such an adjustment arrangement on the S.

You can see the Nitron arrangement here

Aha see what you mean. I meant adjustable top mounts, pillowball etc.

However, no room for this arrangement on the S!

What is a top mounted compression adjuster - just adjusts compression damping from the engine bay?

On the pic Dembo posted there are black hex like adjusters, on the Nitron's there are knurled knobs. Turning these adjusts the damping.
Most after market coilovers only have the adjuster on the top. Higher end ones seperate compression and redbound adjustment.
If you are a Paper Lawyer you could take it to race level and have three adjusters for high and low speed!

I don't get what Mikey means by "compression adjustment" either, unless he's referring to the compression adjustment on the top of the damper and not the mount.

Arguing semantics I suspect.

With McPhearson/single wishbone suspension the shock and spring are part of the structure and so moving the top affects the camber and/or caster. With our lovely double wishbone suspension the arms take care of all that, and the spring/shock are there just to go up and down.

I am on both counts!

My Track Nitrons have three adustments
Height
Compression
Rebound

Most aftermarkets have two
height
"damping" (adjusts both compression and rebound)

So basically, I was right.

Do you not have the high speed/low speed adjustment then? I thought there were the lesser Nitrons with just the single compression/rebound adjustment as per most coilovers, and the mega Nitrons with all three.

OK you were right

I upgraded my Nitrons from 2 to 3 ways, PL has 4 ways.

More Nitron age to show the lower adjuster!

I run KW variant 3 which has the same system.

Very happy with them on track and road. Can be a little fiddly to adjust though .
