With less rubber (low profile) the rider will be harder, you will feel the lumps and bumps in the road more, but the car would corner "better" because there is less rubber flex compared to the standard wheels.

So what 18" wheels DO you have?

The shocks will also have to work harder with heavier wheels. Losing unsprung mass is far more important than losing sprung mass.

Not necessarily true!
Those 18" EVO's DO change the rolling diameter. I had exactly that problem when I had them on my 00 S.

I don't have that problem now with the correctly sized 17's

Yes I know they are the same all round, and also the wrong offset ET45

But they do sit under the arches fine

Running 215/35/18 on the front and 225/35/18 on the back

I've got 245's on an ET42 (8J) and they fit fine.

then 225's on the same size on the front and they fit well too. Tyre wall right on the edge of the arch, MOT pass
