The bolts have a collar on that butts up solid against header for a desired tension,
Berk not allowing for the slimmer test pipe/HFC flange here, and should maybe address when fitting.
I ground the collars off the spring bolts, thus increasing the available tension on the springs.
The thread on the spring bolts have a limit at this point so needs spacing so not to bottom out on threaded bolt.
I used a 10mm s/steel nut on each instead of washers, just because i had them and looked better than 5/6 washers.
Hope this helps,
sorry no pictures

Aha I think im with you, the bolts have a shoulder on them that doesnt work well the the berk decat bolt holes.
To get more tension you added some bolts over the top then you can tip up tighter
that was what I thought may work with washers but lile you said lots of washers may look silly so you used bolts you had to hand at the time.
Thanks for the detail. Very helpful. (Thumbs up... I dont know how to do the thumbs up picture)

Hay Krisbuc.
Yes it does im considering having it zircotec coated and popped back on. So it keeps in with the OE look.
The HKS twisted manifold keeps the stock heat sheild, it is needed as the HKS manifold is used with the supercharger kit, which has the supercharger on the side of the engine by the manifold.
New gasket fitted, locking bolts added all tightend up no nasty fart noises! :-)
