Honda calipers are so crap
Rears definately more than fronts though.
Never take any chances with your brakes.

how easy was it to get the piston back in?
'freeing up' is a rubbish idea - any rust on there will slowly rip through the caliper seal anyway... rebuild or replace imo

how much would should it cost to have one front left caliper rebuilt by honda....or a cheapo garage down the road?
Also, any thoughts on the likelihood of my new disc being warped/ruined after the one 15minute drive (note: it was steaming/smoking and stank of rubber by the time I pulled over)?

FIAT used to use alloy calipers; the electrolytic corrosion between them and the steel pins/pistons was faaaaar worse for corrosion!
Johnny, I expect the Rozzers will give you hell. You could always get some plates made up with 'No officer it IS mine, it's not stolen' on the bottom.
Fitting braided hoses? not necessary, but like you say, whilst it's in bits...
Also gives you a chance to irritate the rear caliper pins, to delay their seizure for a while.

My rear driver side seized a while back. Smoke and drama all over Tescos car park! Lol..
Stamped on the brake pedal a few times and that freed it up, then stripped them down and gave them a good clean and they've been fine ever since.
They are crap tho.

Thanks for the advice. fingers crossed the disc and pad is still OK. Think I will get it to the garage for it to be stripped and cleaned out and put back on...
Or is it a good idea to get a caliper rebuild kit to take to the garage with me and if so, has anyone got a front left caliper rebuild kit they want to sell to me?

Hi Jonny, I pass your work on westdale quite often (if that logo is you) so
i think the calipers seize a lot due to lack of use, mine are always cleaned and greased with copperslip for that reason as my S is a weekend toy these days. never had any issues in 6 years and a meagre 30k ish miles
you've had some interesting motors there over the years btw
