Dude, this topic is 2 and half years old.

I'm sure you need more than that anyway, how do you get under the car to paint it

5L tin is more than enough, i did three cars from the same tin last weekend, my S along with the Corrado VR6 and Celica GT4. It goes quite a long way and doesnt need to be caked with it. It took three of us approx. 2.5 hours to do all three with 3" - 4" brushes (cut the top of the tin off for easy access!). It is definately worth doing IMO, brake pipes and the like seem to last so much longer. Just get the car on a set of ramps just above head height for easy access (needless to say dont get it round the braking components). If you want a professional job try here as i have heard good thing about them, specialising in cherrised cars and land-rovers, takes best part of a day i think and

I would only do it if keeping the car for a long time.

If I was looking at a second hand car and the underside was smothered with any non standard underseal then I would walk away.

It used to be a popular way of hiding any bodged/nasty repairs.

On top of this I've never seen one rusty S2K, although I havn't seen that many.

wouldn't powder coating be a better choice for the suspension parts?

And you can paint them while they are still on the car, no need to strip it down!

Not Hammerite! It dries and cracks when the wishbones flex. Buy POR15 rust preventative paint from frost.co.uk. You'll only need one can for the wishbones.

Read the instructions carefully. I bought the prepping blue spray as well.

Looks good, thanks!

I guess by "prepping blue spray" you meant Metal Ready?

It even comes in silver!

I do plan on keeping mine a while so i guess it is worth it. When you get underneath the thing the protection looks just about satisfactory, its by no means brilliant. The 15 year old GT4 was in as good condition as the S in fairness. I have seen rust on an S (albeit on the body - galvanised shell i know), a couple i have seen have had rust below the doors about the size of a 20p along the seam (just above the stone chip paint layer).

I cant really see how it would be possible to hide anything major with a light brush of waxoyl If anyone is keeping the car for a long period i would definately recommend doing this.
