Occasionally I still wave at an S out of habit, even though I don't drive one anymore - I do get get mad looks from people who wonder why an SLK350 driver (with an S2000 plate) is waving at them though.

Mind you I've stopped waving at fellow SLK drivers who give you an even madder look.

Mk1 owners (once included) use to pop their headlights to each other.
Is that the MX-5 equivalent of a limp wrist wave then?

I wave to new MX-5 owners, I'm THAT friendly

(feckin rip off design )
I'm glad it's not just me. Nearly done it a couple of times now with the silver. Have to wait until they're really close just in case

There's a guy at work with one of those Fiat coupe things (can't remember the name). They do it too

And I agree it brightens up my day to get a smile and wave back.

I'm not suprised!

Why the S2000 plate on the SLK?

In fact, why the SLK in the first place?

The best wave I've seen is on the WBT meet thread!

I like the whole wave thing. Its just owners acknowledging each other of their great taste in vehicles!

Strangely enough other Accord Type R drivers wave too........ Mind you I think they are rarer than the S2000 now!

Honda drivers all a friendly bunch! ;-)

I used to wave at other VX220 owners as well. Just a recognition thing plus they were quite scarce on the road (unlike those horrible Lotus cars)

My sister does the same in her Fiesta with an S2000 plate, and in her Horse Lorries too!!

Could be... On some of the early rallies we attended there were a couple of cars that had changed the wiring so you could pop one headlight for a hmmm. got people smiling which on the whole is a good thing

Ah, I wonder if Mazda 121 owners also wave to each other on that basis too? (the 121 being a rebadged Mk IV Fiesta which simply did not sell, I've seen four in the last ten years).

Spot the difference:
