I feel your pain mate, my engine let go in May, i used a place in Essex (jap car spares), they supplied me a recon engine block for £1500 (6 month Warrantee) £40 delivery and then i got a local mechanic (mates rates)to remove all the bits that needed to be reused and fit the new engine, he had me back on the road in less than 2 weeks.
the number for the company I used for the recon engine is 01708 557555, speak to Ray.

hope this helps buddy

This was a dropped valve, retainer must have been damaged and dropped the valve straight in at 8000 rpm. Total destruction.

Sorry to hear that mate. Unfortunately that's another case of the retainers issue I mentioned above

Spot on!

Question: With it not looking too scorned, would it not be possible to bore this out and get oversized pistons/rings (or even just the one)?

Burnsy, sorry to hear of this happening, hope you manage to get it sorted soon. In answer to your question I don't think it's cost effective to re-build the F20C, it's manufactured to pretty high tolerances from the factory so there's very little margin. It seems like most just buy a second hand engine and fit it.
