Default Warranty for out of warranty s2k?

If I buy a second hand s2k privately that's out of it's original Honda warranty, can I still get/resume a Honda warranty if it's got full service history? The brief chat I had with a guy at the local Honda dealership seemed to imply that I can but wanted to check with you guys.

If the warranty is indeed available, do you think an average mileage (say 2001 @ 60k) engine would be covered if it were to go for the typical reasons s2k engines blow when they rarely do? As I won't be able to to definitively tell how any private seller has treated their car I'd like some peace of mind against the engine blowing!

Al I would say is do not waste your money on a 3rd party warranty such as Warranty Direct.

They take your money but refuse to pay out.

I can't comment on the Honda one

SFAIK, Honda will do an extended warranty on a car PROVIDED it's been serviced by Honda Dealer/s as per Honda Service Schedule AND is below a certain age and mileage - you'll have to give your local Honda Dealer's Service Department (or Honda UK Customer Services) a phone to find out the aforementioned figures for age and mileage (my guess would be 10 years and 100K miles). Whether such warranties are 'worth' the cost is to no little extent somewhat subjective - and for good reason. We all know an engine blow is a costly fix (minimum

I can, it's just as s**t. Refuse to pay out, or make life v. difficult, even on a low mileage 04.

I have the Honda Warranty. Paperwork is clear about what's covered (everything except wear and tear).
