Default Warped rear licence plate insert

Someone must have shunted my S up the rear whilst I was parked - the tow eye had popped out and my licence plate insert seems to be warped - just won't fit anymore! Gutting, it looks pretty cruddy now. Any help / advice would be hugely appreciated, I want to return her to her former glory if I can!

Take the rear bumper off and remove the plinth (the bracket might be completely rotten though). Then get some heat into the dented area and manipulate it back into shape.

Pretty sure that it's broken the lugs on the plinth that attach it to the metal bit behind the bumper, not much else you can do apart from buy a new one. They do come pre-painted from Honda but are quite pricey ~£140. It might be worth asking Si@Hendy to see what price he can do on one.

May just have slipped down on its mounts but as above, if it has bent the mounts, it's a piece of cake to straighten them.

If it was me, i'd get a bodyshop to fix it to the bumper permanently with some proper plastic adhesive - the brackets are expensive and pointless.

Bonding is a good idea, get some Sikaflex on the case

I priced this up when some dozy doris nudged me while I was sat at traffic lights. If I remember correctly it's £90-95 from Si. Tom @ TGM said it's a bumper off job so I will be having it done when I next go back in a couple of months for my service.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Getting a bodyshop to glue the plinth in properly sounds like the way forward. Does it look like mine is knackered? I.e. will I need to buy a new plinth and get it bonded in, or do you think a bodyshop would be able to bend mine back into shape and glue it in?

I reckon with a bit of heat to make the insert pliable, and some sikaflex, you'll be laughing.

Talk about coincidence but I've just bought some black silicone sealent and was going to take off and do my no. plate plinth this weekend and deal with any rust .

OP . It is really quite easy to remove the bumper and fix this rather than pay someone else to do it .
