I never wanted noticeable noise. We have a shed load of CTR boys round here and you can hear them a mile off (although one has just been told by Plod to sort his exhaust out according to my Honda garage).

The K&N I got is fantastic - the noise is just right when accelerating but sat at traffic lights you can't hear anything so not offensive to anyone else. Can't wait to stick it back on this weekend.

IMO all aftermarket exhausts drone, its just what you find acceptable, if you want noise get a good intake like the K&N its only noisey when you accellerate, if you want to go down the exhaust route take a long drive in a car at motorway speed before commiting, yes they sound good setting off and fantastic at full chat but become very tiring on a long run

If you are going to swap out the exhaust take your time over it. Listening to YouTube video clips is one thing, but living with it day to day in all conditions is quite another.

It seems to me what we want is our 4 pot screamer to sound like a big V8, its not possible an in line 4 will not sound like an in line 6 or a V8 they have their own sounds all we do is make it louder not nicer
spoon N1 at 9k is a thing of beauty, you will be deaf in 6 months but no pain no gain.

Airbox lid off = nice noise but a bit boomy
PRM = lairy as hell, especially at full throttle
PRM + BLueflame = really nice noise and a nice roar at full throttle
PRM + DeCAT + Blueflame = Great noise, almost no motorway drone but on the downside, VTEC has been drowned out a little or has changed pitch but again, thats only really noticeable at full throttle.

The only thing i'd do is possibly remove the DeCat as the exhaust and intake go very very well together.

I do about 12k a year in this over a wide variety of roads and so far, droning hasn't been an issue and the DeCat was only fitted due to the demise of my Cat.

I have to admit when I first got into cars when I was 17 I foolessly thought you could do that with an K&N air filter and Big Bore exhaust

Being sat behind a Spoon N1 on a tunnel run should come with a health warning
