VTEC probem
Noticed yesterday that when I hit about 7,000 revs, the rev counter slows up, like there's some resistance. best way i can describe it is it feels like a rather large giant has grabbed hold of the exhaust any ideas? due for its 54k service soon

Check your engine oil level. Is it low? If so top up.
Try disconnecting the MAP sensor, and give the cable a bit of a wiggle as you reconnect it. There might be crud buidling up on the contacts...
Cheers,
Ash

i experienced the same problem couple of months back but it was like for 15 mins and then everything came back to normal by itself. it used to limit at around 6kish rpm and i had to change gears. I read in some thread that if the engine is cold (doesn't reach 3 bars) u should experience this. something that Honda added not to damage your car check if u still have the same problem while u're on 3 bars.
Good luck
