I have a different solution.

Buy a DC2 Teg for the winter. keep the S in the garage. Winter VTEC fun is still there and if you buy a decent one at the right price you will sell it for what you paid.

My plan only backfired as I still have the Teg from last winter and haven't got round to selling it yet

That's interesting to read.

One thing that seems to be missing perhaps is the speed at which the RPM increases.
I always get the impression that my I get from 6-9 revs much faster than I get from 3-6.

I'd be interested to see a graph of power over time and see if there's a noticable jump in power when it hits the vtec.

I hope I explained that well enough.
Acceleration will decrease with velocity due to wind and rolling resistances, and gear ratios, power train losses.

So if the power/torque curve is flat, which it is, then the acceleration rate will be higher at the low rpm in any given gear as the outright vehicle speed is lower.
Its different with a lumpy curve like a TD or even my Reno so know what you mean.

Steve.

I have a mental image of Doc Brown next to an S saying

'If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits v-tec... you're gonna see some serious shit. '
