Just be thankful it does only that.

In some VW products it actually prevents spark plugs from firing to limit the engine's performance & the slide produced from the power.
It does cut power via the DBW

I'm with Gaspode on this as I had the pleasure of trying out the VSA at the Rockingham skid pan and thought it most impressive indeed.

And then I got to try it out for real at the Lakes meet! I am certain that if I'd been in my old 05 S , there's a every chance that I'd have spun and been hit by P1 as he ricocheted off the wall in front of me. As it was, my new 09 S with the benefit of VSA stopped in record time in a controlled manner on what was a nasty slippery piece of road. I'm a convert!

You can always switch VSA off if you want a pure sports drive but it's there if you need it! And I for one am pleased to have it!
I was surprised how quickly we both stopped without any drama, I could see it becoming a chain reaction since I was going a little quicker up the hill to catch up.

Mmm...I think we're both converts to VSA with the benefit of first-hand experience, wouldn't you say Martin?

Nowt wrong with a a good TC or ESP/VSA system, I wish i had one a long time ago.
Has to come off for performance though, it was worth over 2 seconds a lap on the little Megane on a trackday.
It also makes you kind of lazy, inso much as you eventually just bury your foot in the carpet on exits and let the car sort it all out.

I think thats very true, a mate of mine has just changed from a 996 C4S to a DB9. He took me out the other week the day after he picked it and we went for a spin on fairly wet roads. He was enjoying kickdown after having a manual Porka and several times, encouraged kicked mid corner, which the TC/stability just sorted out and got us moving forward fairly rapidly. Now i know they are heavy but 470bhp, rear wheel drive, wet roads and full throttle mid corner should = a quick visit to the nearest bush! But then you wouldnt normally drive like that i guess, but just shows what it can do and hoe it can really help out eractic drivers!

On the DB9, what a noise. He had already done the fuse 22 removal so we had the glorious V12 on full bore from 2k instead of 4k!
