Volks, Powder coating, Magnesium, Melting?
Right...
I took my wheels ( ) down to my local(ish) powder coaters, who had been recommended to me, for a good going over.
I whipped one out, chappie took one look at it, and felt the weight. "There not magnesium are they?" He says.
buggered if I know I thought to myself.
"Magnesium doesn't always react well to the acid process you know."
"I could do them but you'd have to sign off on them."
Fletch thinks.
Volks... Rare, expensive, composition inconclusive, (even after Boy Wonder came to rescue with web search) do we take the chance? "Thanks, but I'll take them back and have a think about it." Says I
PANTS!
So.
Anyone heard of the powder coating process melting someone's wheels?
I'm off to do a bit of research of Rays wheels and powder coaters, but I just thought I'd open the discussion, and pass on the warning.
PS. I WILL have them done and looking sexy before the East Anglia Meet. By hook or by crook.
I'm even tempted to drive down to brum and see these guys.

The Volks you have are definitely not Magnesium. You'd know if they were magnesium wheels as youd have paid a lot more for them.
AFAIK, Volk only do magnesium wheels in dark blue for the S.

I've just done a quick Google search and there are references to an aluminium and a more expensive magnesium TE37.
And I was 75% sure that mine aren't magnesium. But It's a hell of a chance to take.
As it turns out. I'n not overly disappointed though because they only really had two silvers to choose from, and they weren't that fantastic.
