Volcanic ash on the soft top
I gave the car a good clean today and noticed thousands of white specs on the soft top. When we had the initial blasts of the ash I only hosed down the car at the local garage, I didnt scrub it.
I tried in vein to remove them but I think I will have to get a nail brush or similar to really scrub it out.
Has anyone else noticed it on theirs?

Yup. Lots and lots and lots of water and a microfibre car wash mitt with even more water. Be VERY carefull washing the car this summer, what with volcano ash in with all the other crap that winds up on your paint.
Volcano ash is basically glass or pummice (depending on what's coming out at that moment in time), either one of which are quite abrasive. Water and lots of it, is the answer. Let it run off before you start with the shampoo.

I made this mistake, got some bird crap on the car so I had to use the emergency sponge (I normally have a wash mitt, but I was away from home) and although I got rid of the bird crap, the volcanic ash has left me with a nice scratch in the black paint.
very annoying, especially when you are trying to save the paint from bird lime and you end up making a bigger job for yourself!

Always a thorough rinse with a hose first - no pressure washing!!
I have a gravel drive at home so the car gets dusty very quickly.
Gave it a full wash, claybar and wax at the weekend. Going to get some more quick detailer today to use every few days, just to keep the shine, and I'll probably give another wax coat next time I'm up there for a bit of extra protection against the summer dust.
I think a visit to Tango is in order, though. There are a few bits of paintwork that are starting to look tired to my somewhat critical eye!
