The under bonnet pressure switch is normally a good place to start. This rusts quite quickly.

I hate alarms as well. Completely pointless pieces of equipment. no-one pays any attention to them, they drain the battery, and all decent car thieves know how to disable them anyway.

I bet they don't go off when a disgruntled neighbour torches your car either!

It won't go off until the fire is out, then the alarm will continually sound and you won't be able to find the siren in the smoldering wreckage

And don't get me on to locking wheel nuts Come to think of it the Eu should cost more for not having these "security" items.

Dont start me off about alarms

They have fitted a complete new system to mine , changed the fobs etc. now i have to almost lean through the window for the poxy thing to react , oh and the remote boot opening doesnt work everytime now , but the car has done 650 miles
the range is totally feeble and inadequate.
I had my questionaire through from Honda today and they invite you to phone them if you wish to speak to somebody

Good one for alarms going off is a dodgy battery
(I speak from experience here)

Get that checked too

Does anyone know if there are any tricks to getting Diag information out of the HUD almost every car I've owned has had some method of reading the coolant temperature or battery voltage, (for example Ford Scorpio, hold the reset in for 10 secs and use the button to cycle through)

You got all sorts of useful information.

Is this worth starting a seperate thread to ask?

So far so good with mine (reaches for a large piece of wood), surely the bonnet pressure switch shouldn't rust, sounds like poor design. Where abouts on the nose is it?

It pays to look after these little items, and also door switches, by a juditiuos application of a little vaseline (very cheap and no need for a group purchase). Other parts of the car can also possibly benefit from such attention.
