Very odd noise!

I'm not convinced, the air intake is at certain revs, try to see if the sound goes if you accelerate a bit..
alternatively record it and we can have a 'my s2000 is making a funny noise' clinic. seems to be a lot of it about at the moment

It might also be the struts. I had it replaced on my old car. The symptoms for mine were squeaky noise when driving over a bump and driving slowly. It turned out to be a leaking front strut.

Thanks for all your help guys but nothing seems to be close to the noise!
I'll see if I can record it but as it's extremely random I wouldn't hold your breath - I might see if Arifman can come out with me and hear it - he may be able to explein it better.

On a slightly different track, when you park up, turn off in a garage you can hear the fuel pump priming...sounds like a cow in the distance....
Perhaps high temps or noisy fuel pump may be the cause???

The only thing that happens when I turn the car off is that lovely noise of it clicking and tinking as it cools down.
I also love the smell of the car when it's had a good hard drive, but I'm strange like that
Is "tinking" a real word?

Nah, it's from the rear passenger side.
I doesn't sound mechanical at all.
More like a cat is trapped somewhere and lets out a little yelp!
Hmmmmm......

If it was the fuel pump, i'd expect it to be constant or noticable when the ignition came on, but it's not.
Good luck anyway...
