Never one to miss a pic chance

Has he seen one on a car?
Are you sure it is twisted?
Drilling holes
Mines has been on two cars using 3M tape and done ~12k supercharged miles with no issues!
There are >10 of these on UK cars and no one has had one fall off that I know of!
If he has buggered it get him to buy and paint the Backyard Special one in the FS forum.
Bolts on via the brake light, no tape no drilling holes!

When I told him that other people have put it on using 3M tape he laughed, - he said he'll do that but he wouldn't like to guarentee that it won't fall off the car.

No - he's never seen one on a car.

I had a look - its not twisted, - as it sits on the car, it doesnt quite sit flush, - if you hold down both ends, there is a gap in the middle, - probably about half a millimeter. Yes not much, but a very small gap all the same.

His point is - because there is a slight gap, to install it properly with sikaflex he is going to have to clamp it down quite tightly. He is worried that the clamp may permanently indent the spoiler.

I had a long chat with him, and we looked at it for sometime, - with a bit of persuasion, - he's decided to give it a go tonight and see what happens. He said that once it's on, it probably won't come off again (sikaflex).

Cheers

Well, it's on.

He had a hard time fitting it and getting it to stay in place, - pushing down one side would force the other side to come up etc.

Anyway, end result is that it's on, it looks good, BUT, - it's 1-2mm OUT!

I wouldn't say its immediately noticable, - but of course I KNOW its out, - so i'm a little disappointed.

On the other hand, i'm relieved its finally fitted.

PJD,

I fitted mine on my own in 10 mins, just used a little double sided tape in the centre section to secure it but also put 2 small screws at either corner of the boot to ensure it was held on tight. No flexing, no bowing and perfect fit. It definitely sounds like he overbaked it a little!

He said he didnt bake it to paint it, as it's such a small item.

PJD - sounds like your body shop guy runs a small shop for a good reason
Like I said mines been fitted to two cars, resprayed and fitted with 3 tape twice.
Its done 12k miles, 5 Euro tours several track days and 163 MPH on the Autobahn - no problems!

Well i'm not sure my spoiler's ever going to be removed and refitted, due to the half a tube of sikaflex now holding it on

I'll post some pics sometime in the next few days
