Wind farms are not a waste of time - they are proven! You say 'tree-hugging' as though it's a bad thing to want to save the environment! Odd, since it will be your children who will suffer if we don't do anything (plus the affect on wider ecosystems, extinctions, etc.).

I'm not unconvinced about nuclear. Let's face it, a nuclear accident might feck up a great swathe of the UK, but climate change will feck up the entire world.
Some facts that are actually 'proven':

- Wind energy costs around 10 times per kWhr to generate than fossil or nuclear.

- France's net generation is around 75% nuclear. France also exports most of its energy to other European countries with insufficient generating capacity and enjoys rock-bottom consumer prices as a result.

- 20 years ago they were telling us not to burn fossil fuels because they thought they were running out. Now, carbon is the enemy. However atrophying sea algae pollutes the atmosphere with Hydrocarbons more than mankind. Same scenario - different message?

I work in Power Generation and I can categorically say that green initiatives pertaining to power are, by and large, bull poop. In fact, if it wasn't for government subsidies, wind farms wouldn't get off the ground. I'm all for the green issues that really matter - city centre congestion, recycling to avoid landfill, keeping the oceans clean etc. however you're being brainwashed into a fuller, healthier public purse and nothing more.

Rant over.

Absolutely agree.
A factually accurate and well put comment.

We also both work in same industry.
