Default Vectra 1-0 S2000

Not the greatest of days today and little I could do about it, bar not getting out of bed in the first place.

Went to see my Dad (5th anniversary of Mum's death)

I parked up outside his house and was sat inside having a cup of tea with him.

Next doorbell rings and Dad spots its the from girl across the road. She explained she's sorry, but has reversed her tow barred Vectra estate into the back of my car saying she scratched it.

The damage really doesn't look anything but superficial but its unlikely she can pay for it out of her pocket so insurance will be involved.

Its a bit hard to see as tyhe car needs a good clean but the number plate surround is marked and there is a mark above it on the bumper too and you can also see the mark on the number plate:

It also popped the tow hook cover off which I replaced, but the number plate holder has also been lifted a little from the car, again hard to see:

So you're thinking that's nothing really, but look at this:

My poor Amuse!
Will that just be able to be straightened?

Its not as if she didn't have much room to reverse, she parks next to the Merc:

So what should I do?
Give my insurance a ring in the morning?
Get the bodyshop to have a look at the exhaust too?

I'd really not like to get my insurance co. involved TBH

At the end of it though at very least she bothered to tell me rather than drive off

Not sure you need to talk to your own insurers, you may be able to deal with hers only. The catback is expensive to replace, the numberplate surround probably wont be alot and while their at it they'll remove the enormous collection of little stones from behind it!

You ought to claim I reckon, I know I would. Being honest isn't an excuse for not taking responsibility for driving into someone elses car when you were too busy doing your make up.

I'm never sure how possible it is to have a frank and honest chat with your own insurers. On the one hand, you want to tell them that someone's backed into your car (clearly their or their insurer's responsibility), but the concern is that merely telling them about the incident will affect your future premiums.

The fact is that if it does go through her insurers, it's likely to result in a proper job ...

You always have to tell you insurance company about any claim regardless of fault.

Phew, relief, thought that post meant you'd been left by a Vectra in a race then!

I thought that too. Although the VXR would put up a good fight on a straight.

Well done on her for telling you she'd hit your car, however I would inform your insurance firm (you have to), and make a claim against her as she is clearly a careless driver. If she couldn't reverse off her drive way without hitting anything when there's that much room, she deserves to take a hit on her insurance.

Silly question, but your insurance firm do know you have an aftermarket exhaust don't they?
