Default Valve clearance adjustment.

Car now has 91k on it and id like the valve clearances to be checked. I have a week off work next week so if the job is doable myself id love to take it on.

Ill be painting the rocker cover and changing oil next week anyway so might aswell.

Does anyone have a step by step guide to doing this and what tools will i need?

Replies greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Joel

There is a DIY thread on here that is very good. Just do the search for "adjusting tappets valves"

If you are local to Tegiwa imports in Stoke they only chrage £50 for the valve adjustment and I would highly recommend them, you can still do the rocker cover etc yourself but be safe in tghe knowledge your valves have been done perfectly

http://robrobinette.com/S2000ValveAdjust.htm

This is quite a good link.

I'm doing mine today. 2 cylinders done and now it's started raining. Arse!

Ah well, moto3 is quite good and it should stop raining soon.

Also, I'm sure I've read that 0.007 and 0.009 is what people are going with but now the search has stopped working. Can anyone confirm?

Cheers UF.

That just gives me the people who seem to have gone with 0.008 and 0.010

I was sure I'd seen the smaller gaps being used by people.

Ah well, I'll finish off with the smaller settings and see how it feels. I can always open them slightly next week.

Gary, I believe that Honda say 9 and 11 thou, but people go with 8 and 10. That's what I went with when I did mine. Also, by tightening them up with a feeler gauge one size up, when removed with pliers, makes the gap about perfect for the size below. Hope that makes sense!! Haha!

I've gone with 7 and 9 using go/no go gauge.

I'll open them up a bit next weekend. Butt dyno says its more responsive pre-vtec mind you.
