Default V-teching new 04

My new S2K has finally done 600 miles. So after driving very carefully for a month I finally went over 6000rpm last night. My old 02 S2K was really aggressive but my new 04 seems smooth and not so fiesty. Not that I'm complaining because I think the 04 drives so much better anyway. Just wondered if anyone else noticed this?

Run in at last! I know how hard I found to keep it under 6,000 rpm for the first 600 miles, especially having come from the 02 where I could VTEC at will.

Once I got there though, there didn't seem to me to be much difference between my 02 and my 04 in terms of the VTEC crossover

Give it a couple of thousand miles and see whether it feels any different once it loosens up. I've got over 6,000 miles on the clock now and the engine still seems to be loosening.

You had to suffer for a whole Month , I picked up my car on a Tuesday afternoon and was V-teching by Friday midday (1000Km's later). I also noticed that initially the V-tech transition was a bit "soft" (based on what I had read here), it has however been improving every time I use it . My only gripe is that due to altitude problems my V-tech only seems to engage at +- 6300 RPM

The VTEC transition for me is very smooth, I'd actually like it to be a bit harsher.

I had problems with my old car due to being thrashed so I didn't want to over do it.

What kind of problems did you have? I thought our cars were made to be thrashed, I VTEC mine all the time.

My step has become slightly more pronounced in MY02 since I fitted my single pipe exhaust

I can't compare mine to a previous model S2000 but compared to the VTEC kick that I used to get in my CTR the S is very smooth (and I kinda like it ).
