used grease but still leaking!
Hi all,
Ive greased up my seals and they still leak!!! its not a constant leak its as if there is a well in them that holds water and as soon as i get in and drive me and my passenger get soaked (mainly them ) it comes from the gaps in the seals.
anything else i can do or do i need new seels ?

Pop the hard top on.
Change where you park the car
Check the windows are contacting the seals correctly.

No hard top unfortunately !!! think the seals might not be contacting the windows properly, is there a way to adjust this then ?

Nottm is refering (I think) to the fact that the seal is complex in this area and has an insert which will allow leakage if it has moved or if the drain channel in the A pillar seal is blocked up - but you checked that right?
Also loose hood clips can allow water to get in around the top of the A pillar. Again there is a fix described in the FAQ I think, which invloves either swaping the clips side to side or putting a little bush on them made from ruber tube to tighen them up. If your clips rattle it's a sign they might not be tight enough.

I had water coming through the corner of the window seal changed the seals & striker plates. Its made the world of differnce to wind noise & should cure the water leak. Its worth a shot. Strikers are

There are some pages in the workshop manual that describe how to adjust the door glass.
One is an adjustment of the basic position of the glass to get it true to the frame -left, right, up and down.
The other one adjusts the bottom of the central runner. This pulls in or pushes out the glass at the top by use of two adjusters and lock nuts.
I wonder if adjusting the latter just a fraction to bring in the glass against the seal would cure some of the leaks along the top of the glass especially at the front corner.
I guess there is the possibility that wear over time could make the glass looser in it's frame putting less pressure on the seals and causing the leaks.
If anyone is interested I can post up the sheets from the manual.
