Default Unstable on heavy braking

Howdy,

Sorry for another thread but being new to Honda, the s2000, vtec and rwd I have a few things to ask.

When braking sharply or hard from speed the rear end on my car dances around from side to side like its about to swap ends with the front, it's quite unnerving and being a track day person would like to put it right.

I know the rear strut brace is a a little bent so am replacing this when I can find one ( it isn't too bad)

What else could cause this, the car has ds2500 front and rear, I would say the car pulls to the left when doing this too.

Anybody have any experience?

Thanks

Ross

Edit, the car is a well looked after one from this very forum and the geo was done very recently

Tyre pressures uneven, geometry out, sticking caliper.

Had all of those at some point!

Feel the wheel temperatures after a good run, if one is hotter than the others you have a sticky caliper. Same goes for tyre temps ... if one is hotter in one part than the other side, Geo will be out or tyre pressures are out.

Tyres are easy to check

Geo can be checked Wheels in Motion have opened up in MK

quick brake check could be done by a garage that does MOT's. Get them to put it on the brake tester and they will be able to work out whether each brake is working correctly. Personally i have found the when the front sliders are seized or sticky you get a brake pull in the direction of the faulty brake. Requires regreasing of the sliders to ensure they are free.

When i first got my S2K it had bad brake pull and after stamping on the brake on a clear road and getting the ABS to come on it freed up the brakes. I still changed the discs and pads later on but it sorted out my issue for a while

The condition of the brake caliper sliders is important!

Posts on the US forum suggest that, if the car is a daily drive, the sliders should be cleaned and regreased at least once a year.

Mines the same, all over the place on heavy braking! A bit scary!

Also, what's the front/rear braking percentage on our cars? I know on front wheel drive it's normally like 80:20?

It'll be the same or 70/30 as we share brakes with civics and accords

Does that still apply with the S2000's 50/50 weight distribution? Not doubting you, just curious.
