If it's a Truvelo, then your face will probably be visible in the picture, if they decide to clamp down on non-signers (and it's a fair bet they will - can't have the great unwashed taking any sort of initiative, they'll end up voting tory of we're not careful) then cases like your might well be the way they use - he didn't sign but we have a picture of his face.....

It's easy to say don't sign and see what happens, but if it were me I think I would proably take the rap. Sorry

moff:

There are thousands of unsigned ones in the pipeline, so you wouldn't be on your own. However, until someone appeals a conviction on the issue, and the case goes to the High Court for a decision one way or the other, and more to the point... wins, ...it's a dodgy business, and potentially extremely expensive.

If they do have your photo, and an unsigned NIP, then as I see it, someone is going to have to come to see you with the photo and then submit a statement of evidence that in their opinion you are the person shown in it. The photo will become exhibit 'A'. That may well be enough to proceed regardless of the issue of the unsigned notice. It's very much all in the air at the moment, with huges sums of revenue involved. The reality is that if convicted you'd be severly penalised, more so than if you paid it in the first instance.

Your call mate, perhaps Mark's right.

I decided to send mine in unsigned. Fallback position is " Oops an oversight but now that you brought it to my attention, where exactly does it say I must sign ??"

Lets see what happens

Allan. I think my attitutude would still be, "I'm sorry, I've provided the details you required of me. Please enlighten me as to your legal authority to require me to sign it, and I will do so"

Mike

Hmmm... devious mind at work there.... and a post whore in the making?

Allan - I have done the same with mine but I'm pretty sure it was a forward facing camera anyway (and I had the top down) so evidence will probably be there anyway.

I'll let you know waht happens ...........
