Post UK vs. USA Center Console Differences

Hello from the USA!

While checking out the internet on S2000's overseas, I found a picture of the S2000 center console (right-hand drive) which I believe is the Japanese version. Since the Japanese are right-hand drive like you guys in the UK I figured I'd touch base and see if you can help me out.

If you look at the pictures (linked below) you'll notice that located between the cup holder and arm rest pad, are two switches. It looks like the right switch is for the rear window defroster and the left switch may just be a blank.

I have never seen this on the US models as here in the US, instead of the two switches, we have a small compartment large enough to hold a cell phone or a pack of gum, which is pretty useless really.

Center console (UK?)version with two switches:

US version, no switches:

This would be a great way to hook up and control driving and fog lights. Can someone please confirm whether or not the switches are available there in the UK and if so, can you recommend a local UK dealership where I could buy these parts.

Thanks!

P.S. Hey, sorry about that whole Boston Tea Party thing...no hard feeling?! ;-)

It was available on early USA cars fitted with a hardtop and housed the defroster switch. Try a breakers or ask Jeff at hardtopguy.com

I've a JDM car, and I've the hole that you have.
I don't have washer jets, so I have no button.

Light washers + hard top demister buttons belong there on pre-02 models.

post-02 models had the light washers moved to the dash as it was VERY easy to knock the switch with your elbow and get washer fluid land on the cabin (if roof open of course). And yes, I think everyone had this happen at least once hence the switch re-location.
