Default UK Driving Trip

The g/f and I are planning a bit of a road-trip in mid-May. She was thinking Northern Scotland but I am considering more warmer climes.

Any suggestions as to where to go, good routes, place to stay, things to see?

The West coast springs to mind - remember driving the A10 from Oban to Glasgow when I picked my car up and that it was a fantastic road.

Thanks

The roads around Loch Lommond are really nice as are the roads to and around Fort William.

I am sure the S2k jocks will be on to advise soon enough!

Crash, I am due to go visit Loch Lomond at the end of May and meet up with the friendly jocks. I haven't been for a driving holiday to Scotland for so long but I would say it has some of the most beautiful roads in the world and worth it. Forget Wales and the police, go to Scotland and you will no doubt have a great drive.

The roads in the highlands are something else and the scenery isn't to shabby either

If you can cope with the midges then I recommend the west coast of scotland. The Bealach Na Bo is my favourite road, a real alpine pass. Basically Between Skye and Gairloch around Torridon and all the other nice bits around there the scenery is amazing as are the roads.

But take your insect repellent, and cover the front of the car in vaseline or get a car bra unless you want to spend the rest of the year getting the flies off.

The far north and west of scotland has the best scenery and roads I have come across in the country - most parts of scotland have good roads tucked away somewhere, but the far north is in a different league.

What you can't bank on is the weather sadly, and you do have a long/boring trek up here.

If you decide to come up, PM me and I can give you details of the best roads to tackle.

Forget the crappy roads over here.
Postpone your trip till the end of May and get yourself booked on this. French Connection 2, 28th May - 3rd June
You won't be disappointed, and you don't have to join in all the "group drives" if you don't want to.

PS.
(There are limited places.)
