going from last winter around me, then you only need winter tyres on the rear.
i didnt have any issue with front end grip (RE050's i think...)
i've had GSD3's on a previous car; excellent performance, but not sure on the S. sidewall stiffness is something i find you need on the S or it can feel a bit sloppy on the limit.
CG recommended the porsche s02's...

gbduo - i dont yet, but intend to grab something more suitable for winter. i havent a clue whats available for s2000 fitment. after the last few winters, and them seeming to be getting worse, it could well be a good move. cheap and chearful i think. anything that gives more grip than summer tyres and they'll only be used for ~50miles/year.
need to grab a pair of wheels first...

Yeh, I use the car as daily drive though so I need something to give a bit more grip, I don't mind paying for decent tyres but I don't want to spend the earth on tyres which as you say, will get barely 2000 miles on them over the winter!

If you like the bridgestones Kwik Fit are doing them for £107.70, if you phone your local branch to check stock THEN ORDER THEM ON LINE you get free fitting, if you just roll up to the shop you get charged for fitting etc.
Personaly I prefer the Bridgestones and it's not a good idea to mix and match.

Is the price you have been quoted for rears definitely Bridgestone 245/40/R17's?
All I could see was a Bridgestone 225/40/R17 for around 108 GBP, or am I looking in the wrong place on the web site?

I had my first set of assym's in Jan and they coped fantastically with the foul weather. Great in the dry too. 2nd pair of rears fitted yesterday for £263 from event. (245/40x17)

Hi Rob, I've just looked at the link (had it saved in favorites) and it's gone page not found, but got my invoice in front of me and its the right tyre at the price I posted. Mayby they have run out of stock or pulled a special offer, and like you I can't find the 245s on the web site at all, shame as it was a grest price.
