Tyres Bridgestone/Eagle F1's
Oh no, not another tyre thread
I will be needing new front tyres in a few weeks, i currently have Bridgestone Potanza Re050's on the back (245/40/17) and Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front (215/45/17) - i bought some 2nd hand Rota slipstream alloy wheels around 18 months ago and the alloys came with Eagle F1's on.
Now I popped into Camskill, and i got a price for 2 front Bridgestone tyres £123 each fitted, i could have sworn that they were only £90odd a wee while back!?!, have things really gone up?!?.
I think he maybe got mixed up with other models as 'MZ' is for the S2000 only?
I'm pretty sure i dont have F1 asymmetric on the front, what's the difference?. It is worth £50 more to the have Bridgestones Re050's on the front as opposed to Eagle F1 asymmetric on the front, is it a bad idea mixing the two?.
My only concern is last time the car chewed F1's on the back in no time, but the Re050 on the back now have almost surpassed them already! - I find the the Bridgestones are good tyres wear and performance wise.
Thanks

F1 GSD3s have the slashed V pattern, Assymetrics look more like a 'normal' tyre pattern..
I went from GSD3s on the back to assymetrics and now I really want to change the fronts to match as the assymetrics are SO much better.. Can't compare to my bridgestones as they were on the old 16" wheels, but the F1s definately have much more grip both wet and dry.. the gap is bigger in the wet though..

If you like the bridgestones Kwik Fit are doing them for £107.70, if you phone your local branch to check stock THEN ORDER THEM ON LINE you get free fitting, if you just roll up to the shop you get charged for fitting etc.
Personaly I prefer the Bridgestones and it's not a good idea to mix and match.

Adam, last time I bought an MZ for the front (end of last year) due to a puncture it cost me £109 fitted from Denton Tyres in Carlisle. Cheapest round here.

Thanks chaps.
Looks like these are the correct ones http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...4b995s15p14875 - add 12.5 for fitting each.
Definitely gone up price then, I'm sure the margin of cost between front and rears was larger.
RichMc will try kwikfit - is that the total price?

Event Mobile is the best place for me.
I swore by GSD3's and was planning a move to Asym's as they are phased out.
They seem to get good reviews.
Weirdly I have RE050's on the AM and acutally like them!
(they are AM specific like the Honda ones)

I was running the Asyms on my OEM wheels but bought Mike's wheels and tyres. I find the GSD3s a little floaty at high speed but are otherwise good tyres. My car was Geo'd by CG with a custom setup that gives me a lot of camber front and rear. Once I've worn out the GSD3s I'll probably go back to Asyms, they were also brilliant throughout last winter. My only issue will be size, wheels a re a touch wider than OEM but Asyms are only available in oem sizes.
