Thanks guys i think i will try eagle F1 GS D3s on the rear, size 225/50/16. I still have bridgestone re050s 205/55/16 on front

Maybe I'm getting confused but IIRC some folk had slightly wider tyres on the back? on stock 16's???.

Is there any differences good and bad to take note off whilst swapping my re050's for F1 GS D3s on the rear??? - intial browsing tells me these are good tyres in all conditions?

Cheers

Aj

The deal with the wider rears was that the original standard Bridgestone 225 S02s had a wide footprint and were thus equivalent to a 245 in other brands of tyres.

I ran Avon ZZ3 in 225 width and they were fine, but not as good as the S02s or the RE050as.

I really can't see why you'd want to change from the RE050as. Even if you get a couple of thousand more miles out of another tyre, the overall extra cost is tiny, even after a few years.

Lets say a set of 4 tyres costs

I don't know which is better, as I've not tried the Goodyears, but I do like the Bridgestones.

I'm not sure how wanting longer lasting tyres and cost are not the same thing though?

If you're otherwise happy with the Bridgestones, I'd stick with them. I'd be surprised if you got much more mileage out of one tyre than any other (track specials notwithstanding), and longer lasting usually means less grip as a harder compound of rubber is required.
