I've had a LOT of sets of T1R's and they are definately my pick of the bunch. Some going on the Evo next week.

Have you looked at the Hankook RS2's. They are very similar to R888's but have a full tread so very good in the wet. A good friend of mine put them on his EVO 9 after his yoko's were spent and he says it's the best thing he's done.

RS2 - 205/55 - £59 225/50 - £75

T1R - 205/55 - £51 225/50 - £70

Not a lot more money for a lot more tyre

I haven't considered RS2s...mainly because I've not heard of anyone using them on the S.

While they may be good for a heavier car like the EVO, I wonder if they're suited to the S?

wont be getting them again. yet to try them in real wet weather, but they just arent as grippy when pushed in the dry.

i guess ER300's fine if your 95% of the public. not that impressive on the S though
I have them on my Primera after Bridgestone stopped making all the Potenzas in that size. They're okay, but suffer from soft sidewall disease a little (unlike all the other Bridgestones I've had). They grip okay, but like all soft sidewalled tyres you feel like you're constantly scrubbing across the road.

Have you looked at the Hankook RS2s
Been there done that. See above Re: soft sidewalls and scrubbing across the road. Though I would say that on a trackday I couldn't get them to overheat, unlike the Potenzas which will start to melt before too long.

What do you care about more? Handling, or grip?

Well, I don't want to wallow around everywhere whilst staying glued to the road, nor do I want to have rigid handling, but end up in a ditch

A compromise that instils the confidence to sling it round a bend would be nice...and no, I'm not asking for the moon on a stick either

I managed to overheat the GSD3s at Keevil

I am also a HUGE fan of the RS2.

I had them on all four corners of my sub 1000kg track car EK4 and they are the best tyre I have found without moving into semi slick R888 territory. So theres your recommendation for them on a light car

I didnt really get any of the scrubbing Dembo talks about and found the sidewalls to be much stiffer than some of the rival tyres Ive used like Toyo T1Rs.

I thought they were brilliant in the dry and very good also in the wet. Cheapish too. Soon as I get my new wheels its RS2s I will be putting on them.

I believe that Camskill are the only UK Falken dealer for these tyres.

I, and many other Integra DC2 owners were using RS2's (195-55-15 ) as the factory fit 101's Potenzas were hard to find.

They have a nice hard sidewall just like the factory fit Potenzas giving lots of feel but I they were only OK for wet weather driving in a FWD teg. ( mostly greasy B roads )

id assume they would also be deadly with the RWD S2000 in the wet but not far short of R888's for grip in the dry.

obviously using 16inch version may change the characteristics but personally i wont be using RS2's on an S2K in winter.
track and summer use they are hard to better IMHO.
