directional, as in rotation, but all the tyres are the same, you don't have a left and a right tyre, you just turn the tyre round depending which side it goes on

It's only an issue if the are asymetrical!
Directional is not a problem I'm going to do this on my front GSD3's
Just means to swap you must remove the tyres and refit them to the opposite wheel.

AE means directional but with no 'outside' marker like the RE050MZ.

You can probably get the geometry done to preserve tyre life, i.e. no camber and no toe on the rear.

It may kill you, but will probably save money.

I'm pretty sure you can still turn asymmetrical tyres. They need removing from the wheel, and turning round too

When you buy an asymetric tyre, they don't ask, is that for the left or the right

I'm pretty sure you are wrong Ian, asymmetrical tyres have a direction of travel on the outer tyre wall.

Think about what you are saying, you could reverse the tyre, but the tread pattern would be in the wrong direction.

On symmetrical tyres this would not be an issue.

If they're assymetric, and directional, then each tyre can only ever go on one corner. If they're only one or the other, then you could swap them round (by taking them off the wheels).

If they are assymetric, and not directional (like the RE050as), then can't the wheels simply be swapped over? The "Outside" will still be the "Outside", but would be rotating in the other direction.

Or am I talking rubbish?

Not that it'll help with inner shoulder wear though.

I'm fairly sure that the RE050A is directional. From memory they have a direction of travel arrow on the outer tyre wall.

I'll just pop out and check.

Your reasoning is correct though, if they are bi-directional and not uni-directional then there wouldn't be an issue.
