I have just bought a pair of Bridgestone 225/50R16 92W RE050A's for the rear of my 52 plater. I got an incredible 22,500 from the S02's they replaced, which must be some sort of record, when you read the tyre threads on here, and the fronts are still going strong. However, the geo appears to be spot on.
The best price I could find was from a local tyre fitter, in Welwyn Garden City where I live, who had them in stock at

I know nothing about the S02's but I do have previous experience with Black Circles.
I bought a pair of Bridgestone Potenza RE88's for my Civic a year or so ago; they appeared to be all correct spec etc but I was experiencing bad understeer (the new tyres were fitted to the front) in damp/greasy conditions compared directly with the B/Stone RE88's that were on previously (this is long after them bedding in as well).
I was concerned by this and contacted Bridgestone who asked me to give them all the sidewall numbers and codes etc.
It turned out that Black Circles had sold me tyres that were designed and destined for Brazil and not the EU.
Bridgestone told me (think it was a chap called Mark Fleuty or something like that) that this wasnt strictly illegal but that they werent overly happy about it and would be speaking to Black Circles.
So I'd say make sure you specify exactly what you want when ordering.

It's also worth noting that the manufacture of S02's was discontinued some time ago, and rubber deteriorates over time. Check that they do not sell you very old stock!

I was just going to start a fresh post (this one'll do now!) to say that yesterday, at an incredible 39,960 miles, I replaced my original front set! They weren't even dead (in some parts there was still 4mm!) but the very edges were getting there. Mostly 3mm across, with some 2mm - I stick with the s2ki general consensus of 3mm is low enough on the S.
Most people would say I don't drive it properly getting that sort of mileage. Probably true, I jacked in a company Vectra 6 years ago to buy my own - most of my mileage is motorway visiting customers around the UK. Having said that, I do go for a blast down the lanes when I get chance. I think my rears were late 20k when I changed them a year ago.
Having said this, mine are the 17" RE050MZ's, but still, a few miles short of 40k is crazy in one of these cars!
I used Event Mobile again - a good job and they even re-balanced my rears for free after Honda got it wrong when they replaced the wheels under warranty last year. Took about half an hour and cost me about

dont get RE050A's. Put 1900k now and i hate them over the s02's. Understeer and no side wall strength. running 34i and still poor.
Only plus with them is in the wet, they feel alot safer
wish s02's where still around.

What replaced S02's? Im quite a fan of them although Im pretty sure I'll be replacing them with Goodyear F1 eagles always had them on previous performance cars and sworn by them the only tyre that could keep my old 200sx on the road!!
