Default Tyre Question

It's time to replace my tyres . I bought the car with 18" Kahn RSV wheels with 225/40 tyres all round . I was going to replace tyres like for like until I read the FAQ . Now i'm confused ( doesn't take much when it comes to cars ) . I've read that the tyres should be wider on the rear . Can I just put wider tyres on the rear wheels ? If so what size would you recommend . Any help would be greatly appreciated .

All depends on the offsets and widths of your wheels.

If you want my honest advice, i'd flog the wheels on to someone from the EP3 brigade and then look at getting a proper staggered setup.

Yep all round . Advice taken Hypersonic as I can't find out what offsets they are . After a whole afternoons internet crash course in wheel and tyre set ups I've come up with : Rota D2 front 18 x 8 with 48 offset , rear 18 x 9 with 50 offset . 245 rear tyres and 215 fronts . Am in the right ballpark or do I need to carry on with this mind numbing search for wheels ?
