Got beaten by a sierra cosworth, not sure exactly why but it slowly pulled away from me. Wait till I get my 911 turbo. :-)

I know I know! But guys it wasn't my fault - my baby wasn't ready...

Now that the car is run in - I am always ready at the lights! Even if it's an F reg Ford Fiesta with a hose pipe exhaust - you never know!

lol, don't jest! I once had a girl (attractive too!) in a 1.4 S uncle fester try and take me at the lights on a dual carriageway..... it was only manners to dump 5' of rubber on the tarmac and leave her in my dust

(note - this was before my convertion back to puritanical street manner virtue!)

Id had my car about 3 months when I got spanked by one the the M56, when it went past it had MRD on the back which is a MR2 tuning specialist with kits starting at 300BHP, hence when I found that out I didnt feel so bad.

The early MR2 Turbos where about ~230 BHP but in the later models they increased that to ~250BHP.

Saw an article on MandM a few months ago about this guy with a Nissan Pulsar (Sunny Turbo). In standard form they have about 200BHP but this guys had 400+ and he was saying how he loved to take on Porsches,Ferraris, etc from the lights and leave them for dead.

I bet thats good fun, downside was that he reckoned hed spent about 25K on the car

Last Friday I had a Renault Clio 16V - the one with a vent on the bonnet try to race me on the A4 - when I spanked him bad - he rolled down his window and said that he loved my car and was saving up to get one! Nice of him to do that!

Those who really like the S2000 interior should sit in the drivers seat of an MR2 sometime. It's a great place to be. High transmission tunnel like the S, short stick, very functional layout, a nice digital clock display! ( ) With that upright panel right behind your back, you feel very 'Schuey' from the word go.

I really wish they'd re-designed the MK2 model rather than going for the totally different roadster as they did. Difficult to see how they could have improved much on a great looking car IMHO though. The pop-up headlights would have to have gone under the new regs though. The truth is that sales had plummeted, and the price had crept up into the mid twenty grands making it an expensive car!

I did look at the MR2 roadster when I was changing last time, but the lack of storage space ruled it out altogether. I was offered a test drive but didn't take it. Wished I had now.

I looked very briefly at the MR2 Roadster but every time I see one it reminds me of a squashed Boxster.
I much prefer its predecessor.

Cedric - the new MR2 roadster is not all that fast and the interior looks really tacky and cheap!

My mates has one! I hope he isn't reading this! It is very light, weighing only 970kg and the handling is pretty good but it runs out of steam very quickly! And it looks like a frog too!

The one I test drove was that oh so nasty green colour!! Ultra frog

The sounds from the mid engine was a joy though and it handled extremely well (lack of power I guess!)

If the chassis could take it I bet an MR2 roadster with the 180PS lump out of the Celica could be big fun!

Downside of the car was its ultra impractibility, 1 holdall in the cabin behind the seats and a briefcase under the bonnet (with more faff than an elise roof )

Tif
