Default Trying to spend money with Honda

My 06 S2000 will be 3 years old next month. I've been thinking of buying a new one ever since spotting the pearl white model on the road so when the new prices came through the post on Saturday I made my mind up to go to the dealers and buy one if they could do a part exchange within my budget.

I explained exactly what I wanted to the first dealer and when he said he could only offer 11k for mine leaving me with around 14k to make up, I said no and moved on to the next dealer. They managed to meet my budget after much consultation between various people but the salesman said there was some bad news - they no longer do the pearl white model! Given that it's only the white model I'm interested in I said I'd leave it but they're going to phone round again this week and see if they can find one.

What I can't believe is that they're still showcasing the white model on the website - you can pick white as one of the colours . Obviously, I can see why they can't reprint the brochure but it seemed a bit odd to be sat there with the brochure showing just the white model, the white model being the one shown by default on the website but yet not actually being able to purchase one

The are only producing 100 of the limited edition this year, any other S2000's they sell will be existing stock so if there are no white ones stored somewhere they will not produce one for your order!

If its your own car, I think it would be madness to stump up 10k for a newer model!

Wow, 11k for an 06 in trade in at a Honda main dealer. I know its tough out there but thought it would have been closer to 12.5k-13k

What did the other offer you if you dont mind me asking?

You will NEVER get a cost effective "Price to Change" by selling into a dealer.

Why bother with them?

Wouldn't a respray be cheaper than those figures or just give it to me to buy a supercharger.

On a similar note, I was in Costco Croydon yesterday and the local Honda dealer is offering 10% discount to Costco card holders, it was advertised as new cars but not sure if the same offer would be offered on second hand or servicing?

Over 13k at the other dealer. Well, they didn't actually say, I just made sure it fitted with my budget so they may have reduced the price on the new model to make the figures meet.

To be honest, I also fancied VSA as it's my daily drive and I didn't fancy a 3 month wait for it as an extra when I bought mine originally (cue abuse). I've enjoyed the car so much this last 3 years and I've got the money so just figured 'why not?'. Another 3 years warranty with a new car in the colour I want that I'd probably keep for at least 5 years. I've had a bit of grief with 3 replaced o2 sensors on the current one that I wouldn't really like to repeat out of warranty (I do plan on extending the current warranty if I don't get the new car).

I also can't be bothered messing around trying to sell it privately - been there before with another car and it was a pain in the backside. I'd sooner stand the loss than go through the potential hassle.
