Apparently, in the USA, if an accident is deemed to be caused by oversteer, then the manufacturer is deemed responsible.

I think it's complete bollocks that the manufacturer is liable if the car oversteers. Most cars are set up to understeer because on the whole it's safer - it's easier for Mr Average to turn the wheel a bit harder than it is to catch the back end coming round.

In my experience, American cars are set to ROLL! You slow down well before under or over steer comes into the equation!
