Errrrrrrrrrr. No you cannot pull away in an S2000 with the clutch only at idle rpm.

ah, starting to seem like a normal thing, which is sort of relieving... I am arranging to meet up with a local member sometime so should be able to iron out some misconceptions on my part

This is interesting!
I do often start the car rolling by feathering the clutch until all the way out and then putting the power on (when im cruising/commuting) however as said the s2000 makes a big fuss out of this and doesnt want to move along...
I dont subscribe to it being lack of torque as even the most weak 1.0l cars I have driven have no problems doing this...

But on the S you have a clutch, gearbox, a propshaft, a diff and two drive shafts that all need to get moving before the wheels do. Insufficient revs and it all starts to bog down before the wheels have time / power to move.

Mine only makes a fuss when I try pulling away in 3rd gear
This is another thing of course, anyone driven the S in traffic for an extending period of time? I have done it twice now coming out of the British GP and Latitude Festival yesterday, the GP was worse because it was like 2hours of snail pace traffic and 30C!
Top down of course, but the gearbox was getting pretty toasty, as was the clutch and the engine! You could hear the fans just constantly on by 90 minutes in. Then it started to bog down all the time, then it would kangaroo up to about 20mph no matter how many revs you gave it! Great fun
I think the very hot engine might have caused a bit of dieseling affect or pre det which caused the engine to kangaroo so much and bog down as the ECU was so confused.
Either way, wouldn't recommend running your S in very heavy traffic!
