Hi

I will be doing a transmission and diff fluid change very soon and called up local Honda to get a price for Honda to supply the MTF 3 fluid, a friend will be doing the change.

They advised I would need 3 litres plus the crush washers totalling £37.85. I asked the guy to double check and he confirmed 3 litres. I've searched on here and every thread I've found says 2 litres is all you need for the transmission.

Any advice?

Thanks
From the owners manual;

Manual transmission = 1.5 litre to change or 1.6 litres from dry... Honda MTF about £14 litre delivered

Differential = 0.7 litre to change or 0.8 litres from dry...SAE90 hypoid gear oil, GL5 or GL6 only.think this is about £15 litre from memory, from Honda
So 1.5 lites plus 0.8 lites = 3 litres (assuming you can't buy 1/2 litre bottles )

NO..different oils...

use opie oils. always good at recommending products and quantities
I simply can't fault opie for their level of service! top class every time. I spoke to them about various oils etc not long after i got my S. Settled on using Fuchs lubricants throughout. decent quality and good V.F.M

I got this > http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-976-fuch...ssion-oil.aspx

I use Opie too, excellent online info...

However for this sort of stuff I would go with Honda for the minimal price difference....

yeah but it seemed they wanted to supply the op with 3 litres MTF. Not a total of 3 litres....
Hmm, wonder if that's what they (Honda) meant, 2 MTF and 1 diff oil...

It was definitely 3 litres of Honda MTF 3 fluid they were going to supply for the transmission fluid only. Not good!

I spoke to Opie oils and they sorted me out along with a nice wee discount for mentioning this forum, good shout!

Thanks for all the advice.

Good advice.

Anyone know where to get a small hand pump that I saw someone on youtube use to do the changes on the transmission and diff oil?

I could do with doing mine and would like to do it myself, I presume its not too difficult. Any advice appreciated and a someone let me know best oil and source a pump to do it with.

Thanks,

Ben
