Track day tyre wear
After a bit of advice Please,
Doing a track day this weekend, my rear tyres are almost down to the wear markers.....
do I stick with these and hope the last the day (and hope it doesnt rain) then replace them Monday
or
get new tyres this week that wont really be scrubbed in, in time for the track day...
What do you think?
Cheers,
Greggs...

I was in exactly the same position at the Rockingham track day. My rears were down to just over the wear indicators, so I thrashed the hell out of them. They lasted really well and may have one more day left in them. Don't forget the Bridgestone 25% off at Kwikfit for replacements.

Change them for new before you go!
I had this issue last time at Oulton Park, the grip became all but useless throughout the day and it was not much fun, in my opinion get some new rubber on now.
Oh and if you buy the new BS's they will be run in within a 100 miles or so, and if not you will scrub them in within a few laps on track anyhow.

My experience with Bridgies is that grip reduces in the last 3mm, reducing fun on track (or increasing it if they're your rears!). If you're driving to and from the track (esp in these days of rain), you'll want more tread to be safe/legal anyway. Would it not make you sick to bin it into a wall on the way home....?
Edit: Or arrange a mobile fitter to fit new ones at the track at the end of the day! But if it's wet on track, I'd still want new ones.

But having said that, I'd probably still kill the old ones. Where are they worn? On the track you wear the outsides; on the road probably the insides.
