Track Day Advice and Help Required
Hi all,
I'd like to book a track day for me and missus somewhere down south...
I'm looking for a day out with us and the S. Ideally I'd like us both to be able to be given tution and then a bit of time of the track. I've been wanting to do this ever since getting the S last year but not fancied it over the winter!
So my questions are:
1) Are there any suitable tracks in the South?
2) Will I be able to book tution for us both?
3) Any ideas of approx costs?
4) How does the whole track insurance work? My missus is on the S's insurance, can I get her one day covered?
Many thanks for any advice thrown my way!
ps. Looking forward to going to my first meets this year too (when the weathers better!)

BaT are popular on here:

That should give you an idea of costs. You can book tuition on the site, for your chosen track day, or on the day. I normally go on track for an hour or so to learn the rough route, then get some tuition, then go out for a few more hours to let the advice bed in....
With BaT you don't pay for an extra driver, so your Doris can go too.
There are quite a few companies doing this.
With regard to track cover, I use Richard Egger. It's not cheap, and while the chance of damaging your car is minimal, I prefer to cover my ass

Motorsport events www.motorsport-events.co.uk run airfield days down south, Abingdon and a couple near J17 of the M4. Very well run days, well priced and with instruction available too.

if its a first track day, id say without doubt, bedford.
Loads of run off, well ran, and the instructors are absolutely sound.
March is the next one, I think the 14th, 159 for the day, 35 quid for an additional driver.
I use competition car insurance and its 79 quid for the day for me.
I'll be there with my s, and without wanting to sound like a cocky nob, id be more than happy to take you out and show you the lines I use round there. Ive been there 4 times now (August 08, Dec 08, Jan 09 and Feb 09, so this will be my 5th appearance there.
The people there must be pretty confident that we know our way round, they had me and my mate do the sighting lap for the whole field, which was quite funny as we ended up obviously showing everyone the lines we used to get round the track.

Hey Mark can I ask a question about the insurance; I'm sure the OP will also be interested.
What sort of coin do you generally stump up for the Exige for an average trackday? Just ball-park; and, is the premium related to track experience in any way or is it just a flat figure regardless?
What sort of cover does this afford you?
I'd like your input before I even consider ringing Mr Egger or anyone else.
