Sorry to hear/see the results, W&D does take some practice and very careful monitoring; I monitor any work I am doing with a paint thickness gauge, the key is to be patient and take your time. The main advantage of it is you can work on a very precise area where as polishes and chemicals are more general. I would suggest a safer method would be to use Langka as this does not affect the surrounding paintwork. I generaly do not work on repairing others paintwork because it takes so long to do it properly, you are waiting for each coat to dry before applying another.
Also with clearcoat paints, go easy on the base pigment, it only need a couple of layers and then you fill the rest with the clearcoat/laquar, otherwise you will be rubbing away to smooth it off and then the colour will change as you hit the base pigment. All the Honda S2000

All part of the fun mate, you have little to lose apart from time as Chips is your fallback. You will learn a lot about paint at the same time though and what you can get away with.
