Default Torn roof (Different this time)

Just back from 2 weeks in Singapore, about to head out in the car this morning to college.

Drop the roof. Doesn't go all the way down straight away, jams with a few inches to go and after a second pops down.

End result - a big L shaped tear right behind the passenger latch.... Seems that the bottom (back) of the latch would rub on the canvas on last few inches on the way down. Today unfortunately it did more than just rub on it.

No money to fix it either, so I'll have to duct tape the hole and leave it.

Feeling fairly pissed now with the car. I cannot afford to repair the roof as it was an 01-06 upgrade and I am very broke. With the weather we now get in Ireland a convertible is becoming less of a fun proposition (saying this as someone who spends a lot of time in warm weather in Singapore).

I'm thinking of just ditching the roof and putting the hard top on permanently.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood right now and it will pass, but I will probably go back to the car later tonight and find a pool of water in the cabin....

Ouch lad, sore dose being an upgraded hood already. Duct tape comes off the minute it gets wet lad, using it to cover a hole of mine but getting some neoprane wetsuit glue tomorrow to hopefully patch it back better. Least until i can sort a new roof, wheels and bumper/lip are a priority though

Silicone sealant and a patch of old material will suffice for a short while.

Dave - check out my post regarding the repair I had done today in Co. Tyrone. Obviously your tear is much nastier than my split, but maybe that guy could help.

I'm tempted to just put up with it until the end of summer and then remove the softtop completly for autumn and leave the hard top only. I might repair it next year

I'll give him a shout if I change my mind though - thanks for the tip
