I've been meaning to do it for a while to reduce brake temps on track. I'm heading to Oulton Park next month, so I need to get round to it!

I used the mole grips to remove the screws in one piece (unscrewed them) when I was fitting my Ksports and have removed the shields that way on 4 or 5 different honda's in the past. Then just twist the shields free of the hub so its loose and use tin snips to cut through the thinnest part, then twist apart where the cut is and remove.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought that's what you meant. Strangely I have no mole grips, so will be buying some of those too!

Haha! Hopefully we'll have the same weather as we had when I was there in '08, although I'm not counting on it...!

im in favour of non-destructive methods on the heat sheild.
hammer & chisel on the heads (or mole grips), but keep the heatsheild intact if possble.

you could then look into moddifying them with air ducts maybe..

I tried looking at that a while back, which is when I realised you can't get them off without taking the hub off, or cutting a slot in them.

Angle Grinder to the rescue, new tool purchase made! I tried mole grips on the bolt heads to no avail (obviously seized in). So I chopped the heads off with my new purchase and used tin snips to (easily) cut a section out. Only one bolt stem subsequently unscrewed, the rest were seized in, so I left them in. The most difficult bit was getting the shields free from the hub, so I could cut through the inner flange. Fronts done this morning, will do rears next weekend. Changed the pads at the same time, as the old ones were down to 3-4mm, which would be enough for a while on the road, but I wanted a decent heat sink for the track!

Thanks for the help guys.
