Default Tools for removing Brake Disc Shields

A bit of a noddy question, but I've started to try and remove the brake disc shields before, and getting to the fastners is a pain in the @rse, as you have to remove the discs, hubs and god knows what else because they're on the back. Hence, I'm going to cut them off. The question is, what's the best tool to do it in situ, with the car on jacks? angle grinder, dremel, reciprocating saw? I have none of these tools in my surprisingly large collection, and thought it was about time to add one of them!

So, who's done it and found the easy way?!

Thanks
Chris

Tin snips are cheapest. Wear a good pair of gloves, cut down the radius of the shield as low as you can go and divide the whole thing into strips, then just bend forward and back till they snap off.

Why don't you drill a hole into the shield where the skrew is and undo them I'd try that first easy, unless thier seized lol.

When you say use mole grips on the screws, do you mean use them to actually unscrew the screws? Ie, you can't get a proper tool in there, so just grab the head and turn? Or do you mean break the heads off the screws?

Given my penchant for power tools, I suspect an angle grinder might be a 'necessary' purchase...!

Angle grinder is a must for every diy man can't live without it!

I suspect they meant try turning the head with the mole grips and by doing so they'll snap off all by themselves

sorry to go off topic but why are you removing them out of interest?

Angle grind in towards the hub, then use the mole grips and a hammer to peel the metal away. Think opening a can when the ring pull has come off.
